Step Five Slide your opposite thumb between the wrapped yarn and your palm.Step Four Repeat Steps 1-3 with a second and third colors of yarn, trying to cover the color before it as much as possible.Step Three Once you have a small amount of yarn around your fingers trim the end.Step Two Being wrapping your fingers with the yarn.Step One Take the end of the first color of yarn and place it between your thumb and palm.Step Seven Haircut time! Trim the loose ends to create a bushy pom pom.Step Six Carefully cut through the center of the loops (the butterfly wings) on either side of the center point.Pass the yarn underneath itself to tie a knot. Our gray character is made out of cotton yarn, which is a bit droopier than the others to match his silly eyes and teeth. Looking at our photos, all of our pom pom monsters are made with acrylic yarn except for the gray monster. There is no need to use high quality wool yarn for this simple kid’s craft! Cotton yarn is also a good option for this project, it just depends on the look you want to create. There are lots of types of yarn out there, but I recommend using acrylic yarn for this project. Grab scissors, a hot glue gun and an extra large pom pom maker out of your crafting toolbox and you are ready to start the project. The only materials you need to make these yarn pom pom monsters are yarn and felt.
